About:

The Harborfields Central School District’s first CeReal Challenge came to its happy conclusion on May 3, when each of the district’s school buildings – Harborfields High School, Oldfield Middle School, Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School and Washington Drive Primary School – in succession tipped over their prepared domino course of cereal boxes.

As a group, the four schools had set a goal of collecting one cereal box per student, a total of 948 boxes. In the end, they not only reached but exceeded their goal, aided by the PTAs, gathering an impressive 2,801 boxes for charity.

The purpose of this exciting districtwide event was to collect cereal boxes to be donated to the Harborfields Alliance for Community Outreach to distribute to the community’s families in need. The culminating domino event served to spotlight the effect everyone can have by helping one another as a community as well as helping to “knock down” hunger.

“Watching the cereal boxes tumble from one Harborfields building to the next was an epic demonstration of the dedication and commitment our community has in supporting one another and building connections,” Washington Drive Principal Kathy McNally said,
