About:
The Girls Lacrosse team proudly took the field in honor of the 15ForLife Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and supporting those affected by depression and mental illness. Learn more about the foundation’s mission at 15forlife.org.
This meaningful tribute came at the suggestion of Carmel coach Kerry Hackett, who proposed centering the game around the 15ForLife Foundation. Both teams showed their support with specially designed shirts—Carmel in blue and our team in custom shirts featuring maroon accents. The event served not only as a competitive match, but also as a powerful show of unity and advocacy for mental health awareness.
The 15ForLife Foundation was created in memory of Rob Kavovit, an All-American lacrosse player at Yorktown High School and Syracuse University. Rob tragically passed away in 2021 at the age of 45. The foundation honors his legacy by working to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and provide resources for those who are struggling.
Coach Hackett, a former Yorktown student and basketball player in the late 1990s, played under our boys coach during his high school years, adding a deeply personal connection to this initiative. Together, both teams demonstrated the power of sport in bringing communities together for a greater cause.
The Girls Lacrosse team is proud to stand with the 15ForLife Foundation and hopes their efforts help continue important conversations about mental health and support for those in need.
