About:
Students in Hauppauge High School’s leadership class hosted their second annual holiday breakfast fundraiser, raising a total of $2,893 for families in need.
The breakfast raises money for the schoolwide initiative, Care and Share’s, Friends of Families holiday campaign, helping families with food and gifts for the holidays. This year, the breakfast raised $1,105. Additionally, the class ran a MacBook Air raffle, raising an additional $1,788 for Friends of Families.
In the class, students learn skills such as goal setting, communication and organization along with other skills it takes to be a good leader in both their school and community. The course is based on the belief that good leaders are developed, not born. The class culminates with students implementing their own personal service project.
Last year’s leadership class created and implemented the idea for a holiday breakfast and this year’s class decided to continue the event. New this year, the students added a hot chocolate bar where other students could place their order for a delicious drink with a variety of toppings.
