About:
Displaying a strong sense of caring and compassion, the West Islip Students with HEARTT community group – accompanied by three parents and English teacher and group founder Virginia Scudder – traveled to New York City on Feb. 6 to donate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to the homeless and their pets.
“We called ourselves the PB & J Gang as we handed out over 200 sandwiches” said Scudder. “The kids learned a lesson of compassion and the struggles faced by many of the less fortunate.”
PBJ Gang 1, PBJ Gang 2: The West Islip Students (student athletes included) with HEARTT community group handed out more than 200 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to New York City’s homeless.
