Last weekend, more than 30 volunteers from the Helping Hands Community Service Club—along with advisors Ms. Saltzman and Mrs. Visnius—spent their Saturday making a meaningful impact at Sunken Meadow State Park. The group participated in the 6th Annual Beach Cleanup hosted by the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society, joining community members in the effort to protect and preserve Long Island’s shoreline.
Students and families worked side by side to remove litter, safeguard local wildlife, and even learn how to identify cold-stunned sea turtles, which can become vulnerable during the colder months. Helping Hands was one of the largest groups in attendance, once again demonstrating the strength, compassion, and community spirit that define Hauppauge.
