About:
We ended up with 9 HS Athletes that were able to help. The Boys worked for 2.5 hours. They worked from 10-12:30 on Saturday morning 10/23
2 of the Boys ran weed eaters/string trimmers and cleaned up all the chain link fence lines around the Little League Baseball Fields. We edged where the infield meets the outfield grass as well as the basepaths. This resulted in multiple loads of sod/grass/weeds being removed from the ballpark. Students used rakes/forks/shovels to remove the waste.
Due to Covid our town has not had Little League on our fields for the last 2 seasons. Because of the lack of play the infields had become overgrown and looked distressed. The Little League complex borders our High School so it is highly visible. All of my players grew up playing on those fields and I felt it was important that they have an opportunity to give back to the younger kids. In the Spring we have a clinic day scheduled for the HS players to help the Little Leaguers with hitting and fielding. Having the fields in good shape was an important part of having a successful clinic.
