About:
Students at East Street Elementary School participated in the Town of Oyster Bay’s Ukraine Humanitarian Relief Drive. Through the month of March, the school’s student council coordinated a collection of necessities like shampoo, soap, band aids and nonperishable food products to contribute to the cause.
Additionally, students and staff were invited to donate $1 to support the Ukrainian efforts in exchange for wearing their pajamas on a designated day.
Principal Jean-Marie Serra said, “I am extremely proud of our students and staff for the overwhelming response of contributions.”
Serra was extremely grateful that the Pajama Day efforts raised $650 to add to the hundreds of items collected. She extended her thanks to students, families and staff of East Street for their generosity and support.
Members of the East Street Student Council were recognized from the Town of Oyster Bay with a certificate of recognition for spearheading this project at the school.
