About:
We are thrilled to share the incredible efforts of the High School Rotary Interact Club, who recently joined forces with the Coastal Steward Group at Cedar Beach for an inspiring Oyster Restoration Volunteer Initiative!
Our dedicated students eagerly rolled up their sleeves and got to work, demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship and community service. The initiative involved several critical activities aimed at preserving and enhancing the marine ecosystem of Long Island Sound:
- Beach Cleaning: The students meticulously cleaned the beaches, ensuring a pristine environment for both wildlife and visitors.
- Scrubbing Tanks and Oyster Racks: They worked hard scrubbing tanks and oyster racks, maintaining the infrastructure essential for oyster cultivation.
- Counting Baby Oyster Seedlings: One of the most rewarding tasks was counting the baby oyster seedlings, which will eventually be released to replenish and sustain the oyster population in Long Island Sound.
This initiative not only provided hands-on experience in environmental conservation but also highlighted the importance of teamwork, dedication, and community involvement. The students’ enthusiasm and hard work made a significant impact, showcasing their commitment to making a positive difference in our environment.
A big shoutout to our Interact Club members for their outstanding efforts and to the Coastal Steward Group for their invaluable guidance and collaboration. Together, they are helping to ensure a healthier and more sustainable marine ecosystem.
Way to go, Interact! Your hard work and dedication make us all proud. Keep up the fantastic work and continue to inspire others with your passion for community service and environmental stewardship. #LCSDPride
Thank you to everyone involved in this meaningful initiative. Let’s continue to work together to protect and preserve our natural resources for future generations.
