About:
The Half Hollow Hills East Football team is bringing awareness to Autism and special needs throughout their community.
The team created a flyer that they distributed to the school community and encouraged everyone to wear blue for Autism Awareness the weekend of September 24th.
In addition, on Friday the football players hung out and shared pizza with the IPC class. These students also received special football jerseys to wear to this Saturdays game.
Prior to the opening Ceremony at the football game Coach Marcelin shared a few words …
“Before we start today we would like to thank our Hills East community for being here at our Light it up Blue for Autism Awareness game to support not only our football team but also all of our students with special needs. The tasks that they perform everyday are challenging for them and they never give up. Like a true athlete, they continue to persevere until they have met their goals. Today we honor their parents, who have been their biggest cheerleaders since day 1, advocating for them and supporting them throughout their everyday
life. We also would like to honor the teachers and paraprofessionals who work with these students every day encouraging them, believing in them and helping to reach their potential. We are so grateful for all of you coming out to support this cause now LETS GO T-BIRDS.”
The football team will also collected donations at the game to be donated to a charitable cause that supports Autism and special needs. This donation is in addition to the football teams $50 they previously raised for charity.
