About:
Inspired by the holiday spirit spreading around the nation, the World Language Honor Society at Floral Park Memorial High School (which includes studnet athletes) decided to make holiday cards for those who need a little extra joy this year. When asked why she believed holiday cards were the best way to give back this holiday season, Veronica Powers-Scollo, supervisor of the world language honor society responded, “Unfortunately not all children are able to enjoy the holiday season, and this year I believed that bringing smiles to sick children around the nation was a great way to spread cheer. Anyone can donate toys and gifts, but it takes special people with kind hearts to write thoughtful cards to remind these kids that people are thinking about them this holiday season.” President Tina Seuling and Vice President Vishal Mirchandani agreed with Powers and set up a day after school where the world language honor society members spent two hours creating cards to send to sick children who had to spend their holidays in the hospital. The group hoped these cards would bring joy to the children and their families.
