About:
Sylvan Avenue Elementary School peer leaders recently crafted colorful holiday cards for Suffolk County police officers from the fifth precinct and the Bayport Fire District, who personally collected the cards with gratitude on Dec. 16.
New York State Assemblyman Jarett Gandolfo’s office recently held a toy drive and wanted to distribute the gifts to the Bayport-Blue Point School District for families in need. The toys were delivered by the police and fire department, as well as representatives from Assemblyman Gandolfo’s and U.S. Congressman Andrew Garbarino’s offices. In return, each peer leader presented a policeman or fireman with a holiday card.
Social worker Brooke Yonick told the guests, “There is so much generosity in the community, that the peer leaders wanted to give back to you with these hand-crafted cards for the holidays and to thank you for your kindness.”
