About:
On May 1st the Port Jefferson Royals Boys and Girls Varsity Lacrosse team hosted Eastport South Manor High School in the second annual Aidan Kaminska “My Day” Foundation Memorial Lacrosse Game—an event created to honor the life and legacy of Aidan Kaminska, a Port Jefferson graduate whose passion for the game and his teammates continues to inspire.
The atmosphere was nothing short of electric, with a strong turnout from both communities and an overwhelming show of support from fans, families, and alumni. Head Coach Taylor Forstell described it as “the type of atmosphere where Aidan thrived,” highlighting the energy, effort, and unity displayed throughout the game.
More than just a competition, the event served a deeper purpose—raising funds for My Day Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to supporting student-athlete mental health and academic success, providing scholarships and wellness resources to high school and college athletes nationwide.
A meaningful highlight of the day was the distribution of wellness boxes to every player from both teams, reinforcing the importance of mental health awareness and support. For many, the event was a true reflection of Aidan’s character—his leadership, compassion, and commitment to those around him.
“A perfect reflection of who Aidan was as a player and teammate,” shared one senior captain and former teammate. “From the speeches to the support in the stands, it was an incredible experience and something we hope continues for years to come.”
As this event continues to grow, it stands as a powerful reminder of how athletics can bring communities together, spark important conversations, and create meaningful change—all while honoring a legacy that will never be forgotten.
