About:
The Schodack Central School District community is once again coming together for one of its most-anticipated annual traditions—Hoops Against Hunger —returning on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 7:00 PM in the Maple Hill Gym.
This popular charity basketball game brings together faculty, staff, students, and community members for a fun night that supports an important cause. During the event, two teams made up of Schodack CSD teachers, administrators, and staff will face off on the court while the community fills the gym to cheer them on.
More than just a basketball game, Hoops Against Hunger serves as a powerful reminder of how schools can rally together to support those in need.
Supporting the Anchor Food Pantry
Admission to the game is $4 per person, or $3 with a canned or non-perishable food item, with all proceeds and food donations benefiting The Anchor Food Pantry in Castleton. The event helps provide essential food resources for families throughout the community.
In addition to the game itself, attendees can enjoy:
• A concessions stand
• A 50/50 raffle
• Halftime games and activities for all ages with prizes
Community members are also invited to support the event by donating food, drinks, or monetary contributions to the concessions stand.
Student Leadership at the Center
Students play an important role in making the event possible. Maple Hill senior basketball players will serve as team coaches, while junior basketball players will officiate the game, gaining leadership experience while helping organize a meaningful community event.
A Tradition of Community Spirit
Year after year, Hoops Against Hunger draws strong community support, with families, students, and residents gathering to watch their favorite teachers and staff take the court. The event combines friendly competition with a shared commitment to helping others.
By bringing together students, educators, and community members for a night of fun and service, Hoops Against Hunger continues to demonstrate the powerful impact a school community can have when it works together for a good cause.
