About:
The game took place on October 5th, during which both the Varsity and JV teams donned unique shirts, representing different cancers: pink for breast cancer, green for gallbladder cancer, and purple for pancreatic cancer.
A Varsity player tragically lost her father to gallbladder cancer. The JV coach, Christine Coyle, courageously fought breast cancer throughout the summer and has since entered remission. Steve Bassignani, the cherished sports photographer who captures moments across various schools and events, is currently confronting pancreatic cancer.
One of the alumni players suffered the loss of her mother to pancreatic cancer as well. The cruel touch of cancer is something many of the team members and their families have experienced.
In an effort to support cancer organizations, they collected donations and successfully raised over $1,000, which they intend to distribute equally among the specific cancer causes.
The commitment of the teams was evident as they crafted posters, wore ribbons and the special shirts, showcasing their deep connection to this annual event.
In a heartfelt gesture, they presented Leah Hodgdon with flowers in memory of her father’s battle with gallbladder cancer and also honored Coach Christine Coyle for her fight against breast cancer.
