About:
The Ichabod Crane Boys Varsity Basketball team recently showcased the power of community and giving back by raising $1,500 for the Alzheimer’s Association through their Annual Charity Game held on January 24, 2025, against Troy. The fundraising efforts continued through their February 1, 2025 game against Lansingburgh. This impactful event was made possible with the support of the Ichabod Crane Booster Club, who helped facilitate the fundraiser and rallied the generous local community to donate to the cause.
Each year, the team’s senior players select a charity to support through the Annual Charity Game, and this season, captains Chase Morrison and Patrick Graziano, on behalf of their fellow seniors, chose the Alzheimer’s Association. This decision was especially meaningful, as the disease affects many families, and the team wanted to make a difference.
The fundraising efforts culminated in a special donation ceremony on February 13, 2025, when Debbie Abreu and Andrew Sagarin, representatives of the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York, visited Ichabod Crane. They gave an enlightening presentation to the team, sharing valuable insights into Alzheimer’s Disease, including its history, causes, and the emotional toll it takes on individuals and families at various stages. The session also highlighted available treatments and resources for those affected by the disease.
This initiative truly exemplifies the Ichabod Crane Boys Varsity Basketball team’s commitment to community service and making a meaningful impact.
