About:
Teacher Appreciation Night is a fairly new tradition for our booster club organization, having only taken place for the past few years. All of the players are asked to choose a teacher who has impacted them in some way. These teachers are then invited to the event. They wear their player’s jersey and are honored with a brief ceremony before the game begins. It has been a great opportunity for the players to acknowledge a teacher who has made a difference in their lives!
The varsity hockey team does give back to our community in other ways, as that is important to our coaches. Our players typically conduct a drive-by food drive for our local food pantry in November or December. They then deliver the food and money collected to our Irondequoit Food Cupboard to help support local families in need.
The team also hosts a free Skate With the Eagles event at our local rink over Christmas break. This event is for Irondequoit students 6th grade and under. The kids dress in hockey gear and come skate with the varsity team, doing drills and skating in general. The kids then enjoy a pizza party while watching the current Eagles practicing!
