About:
The Iroquois Red Hawks Football program continues to show that leadership extends far beyond the football field. In early February, student-athletes took part in two meaningful service initiatives—bringing joy to local seniors and supporting families in need through teamwork and compassion.
Over the course of the week, Red Hawks players crafted handmade Valentine’s cards for residents of local nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Guided by Lindsay Lorigo, the athletes took time to create thoughtful messages designed to brighten someone’s day and remind seniors that they are seen, valued, and appreciated. It was a simple act of kindness with a powerful impact, reinforcing the importance of empathy and human connection.
In addition to supporting local seniors, the Red Hawks partnered with the cheer program to adopt local families and help provide a memorable holiday experience. By working together across programs, students demonstrated the strength of collaboration and the role athletics can play in bringing communities together during times of need.
Through these efforts, Iroquois Red Hawks Football continues to model what it means to lead with heart—through teamwork, service, and compassion, making a positive difference in their community. These initiatives reflect the true spirit of education-based athletics: building character, fostering connection, and empowering young leaders to serve others.
