About:
The Island Trees Baseball and Softball programs recently hosted a memorable Autism Awareness Day, bringing together athletes, families, and community members for a day centered around inclusion, support, and joy.
Despite rainy weather throughout the day, the event turned into a truly special experience for everyone involved. One of the highlights was the Challenger Clinic, which welcomed more than 27 participants and featured incredible support from Island Trees high school baseball and softball players. The clinic was filled with smiles, laughter, high fives, and unforgettable moments as athletes and volunteers connected through the game they love.
Following the clinic, the programs continued their annual tradition by welcoming special guests Anthony and Nora to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Autism Awareness game against MacArthur High School.
In addition to creating meaningful experiences for participants and families, the event also made a major impact off the field. Through donations, apparel sales, and community support, the programs raised more than $1,100 for the Nassau/Suffolk Autism Society.
The day showcased the power of athletics to unite a community and create opportunities for inclusion, compassion, and lasting memories. Island Trees Baseball and Softball continue to demonstrate how student-athletes can make a difference both on and off the field.
