About:
The Island Trees Varsity Cheerleading team recently held its 2nd annual “Cheerleader for a Day” event, and it was a night to remember! With an incredible turnout, 20 Varsity Cheerleaders and 60 future cheerleaders took part in this spirited event, held during the Varsity team’s Pink-Out game in support of breast cancer awareness.
The evening kicked off with a clinic where the young participants got a taste of cheerleading from the best. The future cheerleaders, clad in their Pink-Out shirts, pink bows, and breast cancer face tattoos, eagerly learned a cheer and dance routine from the Varsity team. This experience offered them a glimpse into the basics of cheerleading and the excitement of performing on the big stage.
The performance was a highlight, with the Varsity cheerleaders and their new recruits delivering a mini-routine on the football field, uniting in pink to show support for breast cancer awareness. It was an inspiring sight, and the Varsity team was proud to pass along their skills and passion to the next generation of cheerleaders.
Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness
Throughout October, the Island Trees Varsity Cheer team extended their support by selling breast cancer awareness bracelets, scrunchies, keychains, and ribbons, donating proceeds to the American Cancer Society. Additionally, part of the clinic’s proceeds went toward this worthy cause, underscoring the team’s dedication to making a positive impact within their community.
The night was filled with excitement, joy, and a shared sense of purpose. The Varsity cheerleaders’ influence on these young participants is undeniable, and events like this remind us of the power of community, mentorship, and shared causes.
