About:

The Island Trees Softball program raised money for The Make-A-Wish Metro NY and Western NY Chapter last April.  The Kids for Wish Kids Campaign (run by MAW) gave us the opportunity to raise money to grant wishes of children with critical illnesses.   The IT Softball (Middle School and Varisty Softball) program sold Wish Stars and baked goods at school.  The team also collected donations and promoted to their teachers and peers to wear blue in support of granting wishes.

We also dedicated our game on Wednesday, April 27th, against Bethpage to be our “Make-A-Wish,” Game.  With the help and support of Bethpage, the girls collected donations and had a bake sale during the game.  The Bulldogs wore blue socks and bows to support the cause.  We are still counting our donations- but we raised about $1300.  This money will help give a wish child strength and hope.

A little back story- our Varsity head Coach, Taylor Tedeschi, both interned and worked for the Make-A-Wish Chapter.  With hands-on experience with the charity- she knows that Make-A-Wish does incredible work.  It is a great cause and the girls were super excited to give back to their community (Wish kids in Nassau).

Please see the pictures attached to show how great our event was.  We cannot wait to see what we can do as a team, community next year.
