About:
There were 14 Island Trees Varsity boys basketball players that personally delivered the blankets to the residents in the nursing home. All the boys wore Santa hats while carrying big Santa sacks all filled with new and unused blankets. Many of the residents were brought into a huge meeting room where the boys gave out most of the blankets and even had a special visit from Santa himself. Some patients couldn’t leave their rooms and that’s when all the boys walked the hallways stopping in residents rooms delivering the blankets and wishing the residents happy holidays. There were a lot of smiles that day.
The team visited the nursing home for about 2 1/2 hours. The blanket collection ran for the entire month of December.
The Island Trees Boys Varsity Basketball team wanted to do some type of community service for the holidays. They all decided to make the holiday special for the elderly by collecting new blankets and personally delivering them to nursing home residents. It definitely brought cheer and happiness to the nursing home and the residents during the holidays. The boys are looking forward to doing it again next year.
