About:

This was an awesome weekend of baseball here in Oceanside! I would like to thank the 14 fantastic teams from Long Island and New York City and their coaches and families who came out to help an important cause and play their hearts out, from Oct. 2-4. I also want to thank Rich Gentile of East Coast Tournaments, for all of his hard work. A big thank you as well goes to Bob Maloney and Dan Solomon and the entire board of Oceanside Little League, who have been on board for this event over the years and have been our biggest supporters. And, a shout-out to WFAN Sports Radio, for its public service announcements.
This year’s annual charity tournament raised $6,640 for America’s VetDogs, which provides free, trained service dogs for life to disabled veterans and first responders nationwide. Over the past five years of my event, we have raised nearly $35,000 for VetDogs. Even though we couldn’t safely have a big opening night event this year because of the pandemic, I’m so grateful that the tournament was able to continue.
We will definitely be back next year and way into the future with the tournament, and we plan to grow it even more. Hopefully, in 2021, we will be able to safely bring back the public to a very grand and special opening night ceremony that everyone can enjoy.
Let’s remember the sacrifice of our nation’s veterans and all that they have done for us.
We are still accepting private donations. For more information, you can reach me at jfcatcher2021@gmail.com. Thanks, and be well.
I have enclosed photos of the winning teams in the three age categories of the tournament:
10u-South Shore Sharks
11u-East Coast Cannons
12u-Dream Chasers
