About:
As part of coping with the COVID-19 pandemic and coming back to school, Catherine Torres’ fourth-grade class at Deer Park’s John F. Kennedy Intermediate School has adopted Thankful Thursdays. Each Thursday, the students choose to highlight a group in the school or community that they are thankful for. They have written letters to past teachers, given shout-outs to special area teachers, made a movie trailer for building administrators and wrote cards for veterans. Most recently, the fourth graders created a banner with thank you messages for the building’s custodians.
“My students recognized the custodians as a major part in keeping our school clean and safe so that we can stay in school during this pandemic,” said Torres.
