About:
As part of November as Good Citizenship Month at Deer Park’s John F. Kennedy Intermediate School, the school’s Good Citizenship Committee hosted a special breakfast honoring the community’s veterans on Nov. 17. Students and faculty invited veterans in their families to the event in JFK’s old gymnasium, which was organized by committee members Helene Cotter, Zack King, Lauren Kuban, Taylor Kwintner, Briana Nussbaum and Kate Torres.
“We are so happy we were able to host this event and give students an opportunity to celebrate the brave veterans in their families,” Kuban said. “It was just one way that we felt we could thank those who have made such an incredible sacrifice for our country, and we hope to be able to do it again next year.”
“This was a wonderful day at JFK,” Principal Kelly Benson said. “We were able to show appreciation to the men and women who serve and served our country each and every day. The students enjoyed learning about how their family members helped contribute to make our world a better place.”
