On Thursday, January 30th, the John Jay Cross River Basketball team took on Lakeland in a meaningful Coaches vs. Cancer / For Brooke Game at the JJHS Gym. The game was dedicated to honoring the memory of Brooke D’Aleo, who recently lost her battle with leukemia.
The school community rallied together for an Orange Out 🟠, filling the stands with support and remembrance. In the days leading up to the event, students had the opportunity to purchase signs for $2 to honor a cancer survivor or remember someone lost to cancer. These signs were proudly held up in the stands during a heartfelt moment of silence before the game.
All proceeds from the event were donated to the American Cancer Society, furthering the fight against cancer. With an electric crowd and a crucial league matchup, the Pack showed up and made their voices heard both in the game and in their support for a great cause.
