About:
The John Glenn High School Girls Volleyball program recently demonstrated the power of teamwork and community service by participating in the Breast Cancer Walk at Jones Beach, raising an impressive $1,087 to support the fight against breast cancer.
With 33 student-athletes from the junior varsity and varsity teams contributing to the fundraising effort, the initiative brought the program together for a meaningful cause that extends far beyond the volleyball court.
Student-Athletes Step Up for a Cause
On Sunday, October 18, 19 John Glenn volleyball players participated in the walk at Jones Beach, joining others in raising awareness and showing support for individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
While 19 athletes attended the walk, the team’s impact extended even further. A total of 33 JV and varsity players helped raise funds through the team’s online fundraising page.
Together, their efforts generated $1,087, demonstrating how student-athletes can make a meaningful difference when they work toward a shared goal.
Teamwork Beyond the Volleyball Court
The initiative provided an opportunity for the John Glenn volleyball program to come together outside of competition and support an important cause during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
By participating in the walk and encouraging donations, the athletes helped bring greater attention to breast cancer while demonstrating compassion, leadership, and a commitment to giving back.
The involvement of both junior varsity and varsity players highlights the importance of building a team culture centered not only on athletic success but also on community responsibility.
Making a Difference One Step at a Time
For the John Glenn volleyball players, the Breast Cancer Walk was about much more than fundraising. It was an opportunity to stand in solidarity with those affected by breast cancer and demonstrate that even small individual actions can lead to meaningful collective impact.
Their efforts serve as a reminder that student-athletes have the ability to inspire others, strengthen community connections, and create positive change beyond their sport.
