About:
Kicking off the school’s seventh consecutive Math-A-Thon fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, math-minded students at Deer Park’s John Quincy Adams Primary School attended a presentation by math lab specialist and Math-A-Thon organizer Marianna Grieco in the school cafeteria on Jan. 9.
The students will work to complete Math-A-Thon Funbooks by solving math problems, and sponsors can either make donations based on how many problems and pages the students complete, or of any amount they choose.
During the past six years, Grieco’s students have improved their math skills while raising more than $41,320 for St. Jude’s work to eradicate childhood cancer, including close to $9,000 last year alone.
“The Math-A-Thon problems help the students become better at math while raising donations to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital,” said Grieco. “We are proud and happy to help children and their families at St. Jude.”
