Last month was dubbed “Socktober” at Deer Park’s John Quincy Adams Primary School, with the school collecting more than 100 pairs of socks to donate to men, women and children who live in homeless shelters within the community.
“Socks are the least donated item given to homeless shelters, and we here at JQA wanted to help keep people warm this winter,” Associate Principal Lynn Coyle said. “We are truly grateful to everyone that participated and we look forward to continuing this sock drive next year.”
“Deer Park is such a special community that always steps up to help those in need,” JQA social worker Jarrod Alexander said.
