About:
Ketcham Softball is stepping onto the field with a purpose that reaches far beyond the game—using their platform to raise awareness for student-athlete mental health through a powerful Morgan’s Message matchup.
Playing “for Morgan and everyone who is struggling,” the team is sending a clear message: no one is alone. This meaningful event brings together athletes, families, and the broader community to spark important conversations around mental health and help break the stigma that too often surrounds it.
Through efforts like this, Ketcham Softball embodies the true spirit of education-based athletics—where leadership, compassion, and advocacy extend well beyond the scoreboard.
A Student-Led Movement
At the center of this initiative is student-athlete Emma Kozloski, whose personal journey has inspired an entire community. Alongside her mother, Kim, Emma launched this effort during her freshman year after facing her own mental health challenges. What began as a deeply personal mission has grown into a lasting movement focused on supporting fellow student-athletes.
Motivated by the impact of Morgan’s Message, Emma deepened her commitment by becoming an official ambassador. In this role, she has led the charge in organizing events that raise awareness, provide resources, and foster a culture of support within her school community.
More Than a Rivalry
A highlight of the initiative is the annual matchup against John Jay East Fishkill (JJEF), Ketcham’s longtime rival. Held on Ketcham’s home field, the game has evolved into something much bigger than competition—it has become a unifying event centered on purpose.
With 30 players and 4 coaches between both teams participating that day, the event brings together athletes, families, and supporters with a shared goal: to shine a light on mental health and remind every student-athlete that support is always within reach.
Building a Lasting Legacy
As Emma prepares for graduation, she is focused on ensuring the sustainability of the program she helped build. By mentoring a teammate to carry the initiative forward, she is creating a foundation for continued impact.
Her message is simple but powerful—sports are important, but they are “just a sport.” What truly matters is the well-being of the athletes. Emma’s mission is to make sure every student-athlete feels seen, supported, and never alone.
Through her leadership—and the collective commitment of the Ketcham Softball community—this Morgan’s Messagegame stands as a powerful example of what athletics can represent: connection, compassion, and care for one another.
Over her five years on varsity, Emma has dedicated more than 25 hours to building and sustaining this impactful initiative.
