About:
I have a cousin whose daughter was diagnosed with an inoperable form of brain cancer last year, and she succumbed to the disease at 5 years old last October. Up until that point, I didn’t even know that September was Pediatric Cancer Awareness month.
So last year, in an effort to do something, we found and coordinated with Go4TheGoal and raised just below $800. This year, Coach Torrillo was nice enough to come on board (2 teams are better than 1), and we have also made this our union’s charity of choice for the fall, so every building in West Seneca will be coordinating a “Wear Gold” day as a teacher’s union. Just within the last two weeks, a former coach’s 4-year old son was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer, and we have a player who is a childhood leukemia survivor, #58 Matt Knowles. Bottom line, the more you talk to people, the more prevalent you find out this is.
So we are trying to do something about it.
