About:
One of our dedicated junior defenders, Anna Lemma, spearheaded our team’s involvement in the Support Connection Walk at FDR Park in Yorktown on October 1, 2023. We rallied behind Anna, whose mother triumphed over cancer two years prior, and walked in solidarity with all those touched by this illness.
The 3-mile walk was not only a bonding experience but also an opportunity for our team to extend their support.
Post-walk, our girls dedicated their evening to volunteering at the SOAC Field Hockey Clinic, catering to students from grades 2-8.
Every Sunday, from 6:00-7:30 pm, our Lakeland Varsity Field Hockey team selflessly steps up to coach the SOAC (Shrub Oak Athletic Club) field hockey sessions at Lakeland High School. This program welcomes girls from various districts in grades 2-8. Before every session, I provide the team with a lesson plan, discussed at 5:45 pm. Our players then take the lead, conducting drills and overseeing scrimmage games.
Their generosity with their time never ceases to amaze me. I’m truly fortunate to coach such a dedicated group.
