About:
The Liverpool Girls Lacrosse team recently dedicated their morning to spreading kindness in the local community. Partnering with the organization Rise Above the Streets for their Sandwich Saturday initiative, 20 team members came together for two hours to make sandwiches as part of the “If We Eat, They Eat” campaign. The team also organized and distributed clothing to those in need.
Beyond providing food and supplies, the players engaged in meaningful conversations, gaining a deeper understanding of the realities of homelessness and poverty. This experience helped humanize these issues and reinforced the importance of seeing people beyond their circumstances.
Supporting the Down Syndrome Community: GiGiFIT Acceptance Challenge
The team also showed their support at the GiGiFIT Acceptance Challenge, an inclusive community fitness event featuring a 5K run and 1-mile walk to raise awareness and promote acceptance for the Down syndrome community.
As part of this inspiring day, both JV and Varsity players volunteered for 1.5 hours, cheering on participants and handing out medals at the finish line. This event, hosted by GiGi’s Playhouse, is their largest peer-to-peer fundraiser and brought people together in celebration of inclusivity and empowerment.
Through both events, the Liverpool Girls Lacrosse team demonstrated leadership, compassion, and a commitment to making a difference beyond the game.
