About:
The Liverpool Girls Lacrosse team is using its platform to send a powerful message of support, compassion, and awareness during Mental Health Awareness Month.
Through a simple but meaningful initiative, the team came together wearing green to help shine a light on the importance of mental health and to remind others that no one has to struggle alone. Accompanied by the message, “there’s always been a rainbow hangin’ over your head,” the team encouraged teammates, students, and community members to check in on one another and continue important conversations surrounding mental wellness.
Their message — “it’s okay to not be okay” — serves as an important reminder for students and athletes everywhere. By promoting openness and support, the team is helping break the stigma often associated with mental health challenges and creating a culture where asking for help is seen as a sign of strength.
Initiatives like this demonstrate the positive impact student-athletes can have beyond competition. Through awareness efforts and peer support, Liverpool Girls Lacrosse is helping foster connection, understanding, and kindness within their school community.
As Mental Health Awareness Month continues, the team’s efforts stand as a reminder that even small gestures of support can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
