About:
Photo caption: Lockhart Elementary School in the Massapequa School District hosted a collection drive to benefit Long Island veterans. Spearheaded by music teacher Kathleen Dyckman, the school partnered with Amvets Post 88 in Massapequa to collect items for the United Veterans Beacon House in Bay Shore. Beacon House offers a wide-range of assistance programs to veterans. During the two-week collection, students and staff donated items including blankets, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food, slippers, toiletries and gift cards. Grade levels were assigned different items to ensure all needs were met. Principal Dr. Michael Yannucci and students showed the generous amount of donations from the Lockhart community.
