About:
LOCKPORT ATHLETES FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER! On 9/15 from 9:00am- 11:00am 300+ members of our fall athletic teams will be sent into the community to go door to door collecting canned goods for our local community soup kitchens. Food items must be non-perishable. No glass please!
This has been a long standing tradition in Lockport. The whole fall season both Var/JV thought it was important to reach out to the community to help ramp up for the coming holidays. Being a small city school district we have many people in need and this is a great way to help fill the shelves at our 3 city food pantries. (Salvation Army, St. John’s, and All Saints food pantries) the community is super supportive. Kids go out with coaches and parent volunteers and go door to door. People actually put stuff out on their porches if they aren’t going to be there. We put it out on social media, local paper, and peach jar a email to all parents. In the end we collect a couple of tons of food each year. We have a local moving company let us use a truck and then players from many of the sports go on Monday and deliver. Overall it’s a great annual event.
