About:
Locust Valley High School students brought their love of reading—and a glimpse into their future—to elementary schools across the district.
On February 4, members of the World Language Honor Society visited Ann MacArthur Primary and Locust Valley Intermediate, reading classic children’s books such as Goodnight Moon aloud in French, Italian, and Spanish. Their goal? To spark curiosity and introduce young learners to the exciting world of world languages they’ll have the chance to explore in middle and high school.
The celebration continued on February 5 for World Read Aloud Day, when members of Student Government and the Varsity Girls Basketball Team visited Bayville Primary and Bayville Intermediate. Students read stories aloud and spent time encouraging their younger peers to embrace books, develop a love of reading, and dream big about their futures.
These special visits served not only to promote literacy, but also to build connections between students of all ages—highlighting the mentorship and leadership that defines the Locust Valley learning community.
