About:
The Long Beach community will come together on Sunday, September 13, 2026, for the second annual 3.43 for the 343 Community Run, honoring the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
The 3.43-mile run is held in memory of FDNY Firefighter Joe Herman and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11. Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to walk, jog or run the course along the Long Beach Boardwalk.
Last year, approximately 600 participants took part in the event despite heavy rain, coming together in a powerful show of remembrance and community support. The event also raised $50,000 for Lacy Herman’s Trust Fund, demonstrating the lasting impact that can be created when a community rallies around a meaningful cause.
This year’s event will once again bring residents, families, first responders and supporters together to honor the legacy of those lost while supporting a brighter future.
Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m., with the race starting at 8:30 a.m. at Skudin Surf on the Long Beach Boardwalk.
Through events like this, the Long Beach community continues to show that remembrance can also inspire service, unity and action.
