About:
This spring, the Longwood Lions Football program continues to lead by example—showing that the impact of athletics goes far beyond the field.
As part of their ongoing commitment to community service and youth mentorship, the Lions are preparing for their second “Little Lion Week” of the year, this time partnering with Coram Elementary School. Earlier this winter, the team brought the same energy and enthusiasm to Charles E. Walters Elementary School, creating meaningful connections that left a lasting impression on students and players alike.
“Little Lion Week” is designed to foster relationships between high school athletes and younger students in the community. Throughout the week, Longwood football players connect with their “Little Lions” through Google Classroom, sharing insights into their daily lives as student-athletes—balancing academics, athletics, and leadership.
The experience culminates with an in-person visit, where the Lions spend time engaging with students, building friendships, and serving as positive role models for the next generation.
This initiative is more than just a visit—it’s about mentorship, inspiration, and building a strong community pipeline. By investing their time and energy into younger students, Longwood Football is helping shape confident, motivated future leaders both in and out of the classroom.
As the Lions look ahead to their visit in May, the excitement is already building—for both the high school athletes and their Little Lions.
Programs like this exemplify the power of education-based athletics, where leadership, service, and connection come together to make a meaningful impact.
