About:
Students from Longwood High School recently stepped up to protect their local environment, partnering with the Art Flick Chapter of Trout Unlimited for their annual cleanup at Southaven Park.
Despite cold temperatures limiting river-based efforts, students adapted quickly—shifting their focus to roadside cleanup along the park’s entrance. Working side by side with community volunteers, they helped remove debris before it could reach nearby storm drains and waterways.
In total, the group collected approximately 30 bags of trash, making a meaningful and visible impact on the local ecosystem.
Through teamwork, flexibility, and a commitment to service, Longwood students demonstrated how small actions can lead to significant environmental change. Their efforts not only helped preserve a valued community space but also reinforced the importance of protecting natural resources for future generations.
