About:
responders through a meaningful physical challenge.
Students in Matt Simek’s health and wellness classes participated in a special stair climb in remembrance of the first responders who risked—and in many cases gave—their lives helping others on September 11, 2001.
Together, the students climbed an incredible 37,968 steps, equivalent to 2,373 flights of stairs at 16 steps per flight.
Each step served as a reminder of the bravery, service, and sacrifice demonstrated by first responders that day while giving today’s students a meaningful way to learn, reflect, and remember.
Through this powerful tribute, Maine-Endwell students demonstrated that even 25 years later, the commitment remains the same:
Honor the heroes. Remember the lives lost. Never Forget.
