About:
This is year six of Mia Smith’s fundraising campaign, Make “Cents” Out Of Breast Cancer-Together We Can Make “Change” and it was the best one yet! Through a number of different events, Mia raised $8613.73 which brought her total to over $30,000, which has all gone to countless hours of breast cancer research through The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, BCRF. Along with Mia’s coin-collecting campaign, the annual Farmingdale Pink Out football game, a pink lemonade stand and the second annual “Chop a Thon” at her cousins hair salon in Long Beach, Mia’s sister Ani also started a “Dig Pink” night for the her Farmingdale varsity volleyball team.
Mia started this fundraising effort in 2014, fourth grade in honor of her mom, Lisa, who today is a stage-three breast cancer survivor and wanted to give more women a chance to survive through research, education and awareness.
