About:

For the event, our Booster Club coordinated raffles, 50/50, and concession sales. Together, we also hosted an online fundraiser that raised money for the Women’s Sports Foundation. https://womenssportsfoundation.salsalabs.org/2022ngwsd/p/massapequahighschoolgirlsbasketball/index.html.

Our JV team provided assistance on game day. Their amazing coach, Mikayla Pugliese, coordinated posters being created celebrating NGWSD and the 50th anniversary of the passing of Title IX. They also helped sell concessions at the games.

The entire athletic department, and every sports team in our district, grades 7-12, was invited to attend the event. All of our girls basketball teams and coaches were in attendance. We were also thrilled to have the majority of the St. Rose of Lima girls basketball travel program in attendance. Their two 4th grade teams played at half time, and their presence highlighted the great strength of the girls athletics programs in Massapequa.

We’re hoping this is something we can do annually, and we hope it can grow in importance and stature.
