About:
Spelling out “Massapequa” across the blacktop, more than 400 backpacks created a powerful visual at Birch Lane Elementary School on November 20—marking the success of a month-long collection drive across the Massapequa School District.
In partnership with the With Purpose Foundation, students at all nine district schools were encouraged to donate new or gently used backpacks and school supplies throughout the month of October. The district-wide effort culminated in a celebration at Birch Lane Elementary, the home school of Michael Fay, founder of the With Purpose Foundation.
The event brought together a wide range of community members, including Board of Education trustees, central administrators, principals, teachers, fifth-grade student leaders, parents, and elected officials, all gathering to recognize the impact of the initiative and the generosity behind it.
In total, the backpacks, lunch boxes, and school supplies donated are valued at approximately $14,000, providing essential resources to students in need and reinforcing the importance of community service and compassion.
This inspiring effort showcases the power of partnership and the meaningful impact students can make when an entire district comes together with a shared purpose.
