About:

The Riceville Homestead is of interest as it is one of the oldest structures in the area.  It was constructed in 1790 by a local veteran of the American Revolution, Oliver Rice.
There are a group of local residents that maintain the structure and run it as a museum and do private tours.
Every fall, the Mayfield varsity athletes do a fall clean up to the outside;  raking leaves, picking up debris, etc.  Yesterday was the largest group we have had.  It included members of the boys varsity soccer team, girls varsity soccer team, varsity golf, varsity volleyball and varsity cross country.  It was a great illustration of “many hands make light work” and of the sense of community pride the coaches try to instill in the athletes.
