About:
Memorial Junior High School held its annual CARE Week from Oct. 21-25. The week emphasized positivity and kindness in an assortment of ways and engaged the entire building in this important effort.
More than 60 students gathered after school on the kickoff day to paint rocks with positive images, words and messages. Memorial will create a kindness garden with the finished products and will also donate some of the decorated rocks to Hendrickson Park to bring the kindness mission beyond school doors.
The next day, a special assembly provided motivation and encouragement from professional boxer and youth-speaker Cam Awesome.
CARE Week also featured different clothing themes each day and reminded students to be proactive in talking to new people, being good friends, turning negative situations around and expressing themselves. Additionally, the BRAVE and Leadership clubs collaborated on a candy gram sale and teachers Alexandra Panos and Stephanie Haag created a “Pass On Positivity” wall that provided inspiring notes for students to take for themselves or share with friends.
