About:
Students at Merrick Avenue Middle School in the Bellmore-Merrick Central School District joined the CARE FOR COVID effort by writing letters of appreciation and support to healthcare frontline workers.
“CARE FOR COVID is a community service project created by a former MAMS and Kennedy student and we’d love to help her create letters to be distributed to healthcare workers in our local hospitals,” explained Rachel Mathieu-Leo, the library media specialist and one of the event organizers.
Students were supplied with letter-writing supplies and encouraged to use stickers and photos as well.
Guidance counselor Tammy Sabatino and school psychologist Kristin Bishop also helped organize the event.
