About:
Students in Miller Avenue School’s Student Council continue to build school pride and foster positive relationships with their schoolwide and community service activities and initiatives. Their most recent endeavor was making dog tug toys for Happy Tails Rescue, a local pet rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of animals in need. In addition to the tug toys, they collected pet food and supplies that were donated by the generous school community.
The students, along with advisers Mary Anne Benz and Robert Korchma, were honored for their contributions by Gerri Stewart and her dog Goofy, who performed tricks and gave his paw to the students.
Stewart thanked the students and Benz for bringing the organization’s attention to the school community as they continue their mission in rescuing animals and facilitating foster homes and eventually forever families for them. Benz shared with the students Happy Tails’ ongoing work in educating people about their mission and their dedicated community of adopters, fosters, volunteers, sponsors and supporters.
