About:
This season, the Miller Place Girls Lacrosse program will once again come together with the community to honor the life and legacy of Matt LoNigro—a cherished community member, former head of the Youth Lacrosse program (Boys & Girls), and past President of the Miller Place Athletic Booster Club.
Matt was a passionate advocate for youth sports at every level. His influence helped shape countless young athletes in the Miller Place community, including his own children—his son, Matthew Jr., a 2021 MPHS graduate, and his daughter, Abigail, who is currently a senior at the high school.
Tragically, Matt passed away unexpectedly in May 2022. To keep his memory alive and honor his lasting contributions, his family and the Girls Lacrosse program created this annual memorial game. The event will serve as a celebration of Matt’s enduring spirit, commitment to sports, and dedication to the young people of Miller Place.
As part of this special day, a fundraising effort will take place to support two causes close to Matt’s heart: Hope House Ministries—now known as Matt’s House in his honor—and a lacrosse scholarship fund that will help support student-athletes as they pursue their goals.
This tribute will be more than just a game—it will be a moment of unity, remembrance, and giving back, just as Matt always did for his community.
