About:
I’m a co chair of MBD which is sponsored by the Millis Lions club and Garden club. Teams came through as always. I contact the athletic director and he contacts coaches. We have teachers that help get the word out as well. They participate in raking the fields they play on or other teams fields. Pick up loads of trash which is a huge problem world wide along fences, roadways, parks.
I have been a trash picker for awhile and I go along roadways, through out the year when poison ivy is not there.
A great organization I found on Facebook and Instagram is just1bag2020, they are gaining worldwide followers and count the bags and have a tally. Please check them out.
We can’t keep up with the trash sometimes because wooded areas become hotspots for drinking and leaving trash behind. It’s a constant battle. Local police clean up after them and the unsung heroes that bring bags on there daily walks.
#trashtagchallenge is another trending hashtag that gets people out there.
Every one of our sports teams was represented at the Beautification Day. For our team captains, this is a big day of, ‘how do we garner then harness participation’ and then lead a successful contribution to the cause. We had over 120 of our student-athletes participate in this event. It is the athletes’ way of saying thank you to their supportive community.
