About:
The Mineola High School Girls Soccer program came together for a meaningful cause on October 13, hosting its annual Think Pink event and fundraiser at Hampton Stadium in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The initiative brought together approximately 70–80 student-athletes from the varsity, junior varsity, 7th-grade, and 8th-grade girls soccer teams, demonstrating the power of teamwork and community involvement beyond the field.
Mustangs Come Together for a Cause
The varsity girls soccer team led the fundraising efforts by selling special Think Pink sweatshirts and T-shirts to raise awareness and support the cause. Players proudly wore pink throughout the school day and during their evening game, showing their commitment to honoring those affected by breast cancer.
The younger soccer teams also played an important role in making the event special. Junior varsity, 7th-grade, and 8th-grade players created personalized posters for each varsity player, decorating Hampton Stadium and bringing an added sense of unity and school spirit to the evening.
Raising Funds for the American Cancer Society
Throughout the event, fans, families, and community supporters had opportunities to contribute directly to the American Cancer Society (ACS).
Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance, the Mineola Girls Soccer program collected $575 in cash donations, which was sent to the American Cancer Society to support its mission.
Making an Impact Beyond the Field
Mineola’s Think Pink event is a wonderful example of how student-athletes can use sports to bring people together, raise awareness, and make a positive difference in their communities.
By involving athletes across multiple grade levels, the initiative also encouraged younger players to embrace the importance of giving back and carrying on a tradition of service.
